Stay the blazes out of Annapolis County

Auto fluff is a complex mixture of non-ferrous materials including plastics, foam, textiles, rubber and glass. This fluff is complex and is contaminated with rust, dirt and a variety of fluids.

It's in our water supply.  Thank you Halifax!

Last October we received this promise from the Minister of the Environment:

"Per previous correspondence with the department, "autofluff" is not an acceptable material for a C&D facility and must be disposed of at a 2nd generation landfill. The autofluff material that had been previously received at Arlington Heights C & D has been tested for metals using Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure and PCB. All concentrations of these materials were below the Canadian Standard. Although the department will not be allowing this practice to continue, the risk of environmental impact expected from previously accepted materials is considered low."

A neighbor has been corresponding with the Minister and received this a couple of weeks ago:

"The use of autofluff has been determined to be inappropriate for use as a cover material.....During a recent of the facility cover material consistent with the manufactured cover matrix was observed.  No evidence which suggests the facility is currently using autofluff as a cover matrix was observed."

Which is it Minister?
the department will not be allowing this practice to continue
or
The use of autofluff has been determined to be inappropriate for use as a cover material

6 or more truckloads like this every day!

Rumor has it that the site has been sold to Dexter's.

Is the Minister just a liar?  Or is there more to it?
